What We’re Looking For

ITF workshops reflect standards-based learning in the five categories of the theatre education framework: acting, producing/directing, designing, writing, and dramaturgy. Workshops are 60 minutes and geared toward students. Proposals should:

  • Demonstrate best thinking in the field
  • Be informed by theory, experience, and practice
  • Explain how participants will learn and grow from your content
  • Show alignment with EdTA’s DEIA goals, which include addressing the under-representation of BIPOC presenters and encouraging culturally responsive education

Selection Process

Proposals are evaluated by a committee of educators using a field-tested scoring rubric that evaluates each proposal’s strength in the following:

  • Artistic excellence of the presenter and content
  • Educational merit in theatre framework and standards alignment, as well as achievable learning goals
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and access goals for racial representation and culturally responsive instruction
  • Relevance to the event’s theme/goals, EdTA’s mission, and important theatre learning

EdTA staff makes final selections based on scores and scheduling needs. Selected presenters will be notified in mid-January and will have one week to accept the invitation to present.
